By

Must read 🏆

A highly readable and skillful blend of practical advice & examples coupled with generous doses of explanation, inspiration, and motivation.

This highly readable and engaging book shares the author’s passion for money in clear and easy to understand language that will appeal to its target audience of teens ages twelve to eighteen.

The book starts off by introducing readers to the lack of financial literacy courses in most high school students and discusses why financial literacy is important. A major thesis is the TIME is money’s best friend, so the sooner teens begin to understand and apply basic financial principles, they better off they’ll be later in life.

Sharing tips and strategies for figuring how to make, save, invest, and spend money wisely, the author covers the waterfront quite capably on his topic. Contents include how to set meaningful financial goals, where to save and invest, how to many money, how to create and follow a budget, limiting expenses and increasing in saving, reducing taxes, and how to obtain and build credit and stay in control of same.

This part is divided into two basic parts. Part One is a mni economics and psychology lesson related to money. The 9 rules start in Part Two.

About fifty pages or so, part 1 dives into what money is, the history of money, trading goods and services for precious metal, money, trust, and future money and also inflation . This portion includes examples and illustrations to convey key concepts. It’s easy to read and follow. It moves quickly and doesn’t get bogged down in ethereal blackboard theory type with no real world applications. This portion features one of the clearest, most succinct explanations of inflation you’ll ever find. Also how the pandemic and Russia’s invasion of Ukraine disrupted the world’s supply chains and caused inflation to spike. How to invest money to beat inflation is also discussed.

Thorough and thoughtful, 9 Rules to Dominate Your Money includes charts and other graphics to help readers visualize concepts noted. In addition to takeaways for each rule, there are also some QR codes readers can scan for additional information or templates.

Also discussed are some key questions to ask before opening an account at a financial institution, what assets and liabilities are (along with examples), and how to sell anyone anything.  Bitcoin and cryptocurrency are also covered, as is the debt trap and how to get out of it per the "nine commandments to limit liabilities." The author’s explanation of “interesting” and “compounding” is worth the price of admission alone. (It’s like that scene in It’s A Wonderful Life where George Bailey is trying to keep the old building and loan afloat following a run on the Bedford Falls bank.) The book closes with a quick recap of the nine basic rules.

Overall, 9 Rules to Dominate Your Money is a skillful blend of practical advice and examples coupled with generous doses of explanation, inspiration, and motivation. It is well worth the read. The pacing is brisk. The writing style is chatty, congenial and conversational.

Kindly note that 9 Rules to Dominate Your Money is not a dry-as-the-Atacama-Desert type economic treatise. Nor is it a dull-as-dirt textbook type presentation on Money Management 101. It’s quick. It’s clever. It’s fun! It will certainly appeal to its target audience of teens ages twelve to eighteen. Older readers will benefit, too!

In sum, this is a highly readable and engaging work from a talented young author. It’s a remarkable achievement. So keep an eye on this author. He’s going places. So is this book. It's a keeper!
