Robert French writes an intriguing private investigator mystery which will call out to all of those crime lovers.

Have you ever wanted to be a private investigator? At one point, it seemed like a good idea but then you have to think about all of the people that become endangered in your line of work and the different ways that you'll be put at risk. How do you weigh the pros and the cons? On one side, you can save lives or just expose people for what they do in secret. On the other hand... lets just leave it at that. Robert French writes an intriguing private investigator mystery which will call out to all of those crime lovers.

The private investigation business is booming for Cal Rogan and his team. After one client comes in with a blackmailing dilemma, they agree to help out. Then another client's daughter goes missing in Hong Kong. Cal and Nick must split up in order to tackle both cases. When the blackmailing goes south and Nick finds out the client isn't being truthful about his identity, he and a fellow colleague have to figure out how to get out of the dilemma they find themselves in. Even worse, the practice's reputation is at risk. Cal goes to Hong Kong in search of this missing girl and her brother, but what he uncovers could leave him dead.

French's sixth installment is entertaining and creative. The mystery is suspenseful and draws the reader in with witty and imperfect characters. It is a bit predictable, but none-the-less, it is also an eventful read and many will enjoy as a whole. The only objection would be the pace. It is very fast and skips around a little too quickly. This can easily allude to readers getting lost along the way or having to back and read the passages again for clarification. If you are a reader of private investigator novels and mysteries, you may find this one creeps up on your list. There are five other stories within this series, but this one appears to be acceptable as a standalone.
