Deziree Wilson

Deziree Wilson – Editor

Highly experienced editor and copywriter with a passion for producing great books. I specialise in art and outdoor adventure themes.

Overview

I offer a wide range of writing and editorial services, including manuscript reviews, ghostwriting, developmental editing and proofreading. Whether you're at the conception stage or looking for a final grammar check before publication, I can help you produce the best possible version of your essay, article or manuscript.

My specialist fields reflect my interests and expertise. As well as a first-class master's degree in journalism, I have a degree in outdoor sports coaching and philosophy, a diploma in design and illustration, and I'm a qualified mountain instructor. I'm deeply embedded within outdoor culture, and I love to use art, nature and the environment as lenses through which to tell stories. I was a contributor to Waymaking: An Anthology of Women's Adventure Writing, Poetry and Art, which won the Banff Mountain Book Competition award for non-fiction mountain literature in 2019.

As the editor for Scottish Mountaineering Press, I understand every element of the publishing process, from the intricacies of grammar and punctuation through to referencing, indexing and writing back-cover blurbs and advance information sheets. My recent focus has been on biographies and memoirs, and one of my latest ghostwriting/editing projects, The Fox of Glencoe, won the TGO Reader Award in 2021 and the Banff Mountain Literature Award in 2022.

My approach is highly personalised, and I take great care building rapport so that the whole editorial process feels supportive, collaborative and enjoyable. I offer constructive, empathetic feedback with the aim of helping you tell your story clearly and elegantly, in your own way and through characters and narratives that readers will care about.

Whatever your project, I'd love to discuss how I can help you realise your vision.
