Designed to help humans develop an even closer bond with your Labrador Retriever, the author writes this fact-filled book which spans the entire life cycle, from being born to senior years. Labradors and many other dogs are prone to overeating and obesity. One way to avoid this and get pooch to slow down how much food he eats, is by placing a large rock in the middle of your dog's food dish forcing the dog to each around it.

The information on 'How to Speak Lab' was particularly interesting. Author Omar Nattouf talks about how smart dogs are, and if we turn into their body language we can learn a lot about how they are feeling. An upright tail says I'm happy and glad to see you. However, dog communication goes beyond body language. They can learn to associate certain sounds with events. Nattouf says, 'When a dog starts wagging its tail and jumping when it hears you say “park,” the canine understands the events that typically occur in association with the sounds'. That means the dog understands he may be going to the park in the very near future. They also can learn to understand the meaning of a string of words.

With a complete set of illustrations, he outlines how dogs can talk. They may not be able to speak human words, but they they can tell us how they feel and what they’re thinking with their tails, head, posture, and ears.

He even has a complete section on puppies, what to expect, and when to train them. He goes into correct clicker-training, and how to train the pup at different ages.

If you currently own a Labrador Retriever or if you are thinking about getting one, this is a great reference book. You will learn a lot about the breed. I sure did.
