Veiled in Brick

Must read 🏆

A sit on the edge of your seat, eyes glued to the pages, can’t stop reading, no sleep until you know what happens kind of book.

Zoey is care-free, living her best life, and has no interest in starting a relationship. But when James comes around, not only is their sexual chemistry apparent, but Zoey actually might be starting to like him.

Enter Liam: one of Zoey’s best friends, and nothing more. Or so they thought. Zoey and Liam have essentially “friend-zoned” each other, so why is there a sudden shift in their relationship the minute Zoey opens up to the idea of something more with James?

Oh, and if a love triangle wasn’t enough, she also has a stalker. Scared, vulnerable, and no longer in control of her life or her feelings, Zoey now finds herself face to face with everything she has worked so hard to avoid.

I didn’t think it couldn’t get any better after reading Thinly Veiled, but then Veiled in Brick comes along. Both books are amazing, yet with such different main characters, you get two completely different stories. And Zoey’s story was quite the doozy.

I have loved Zoey’s free spirited nature since the beginning in Thinly Veiled, and I’m so glad she got to shine in this book. The banter back and fourth with the characters throughout the book was laugh out loud funny, the kind where your husband looks at you like you’re crazy. “Good God, you’re like a hummingbird with ADHD” will now be my favorite line to use when someone is acting spastic.

I won’t lie, the whole love triangle situation left me with some feelings in the beginning. I could go on about those feelings, but it would definitely include some spoilers and I think other readers should be able to experience the frustration I felt.  But I promise that it quickly becomes apparent that Eliza knew what she was doing with this plot. Everything I ended up loving about this book wouldn’t have been the same if Zoey ended up with anyone different.

The situation with Zoey’s stalker added that level of thrill and suspense that I crave in a good romance book. It’s the best of both worlds - sweet and spicy, with a twist of danger.

Speaking of spicy, this book stepped it up a notch and I was completely here for it. Zoey is extremely open about her sex life, so it only made sense that there were some spicier scenes. But what I especially loved is that it wasn’t over the top, and didn’t go on for pages and pages.

This is a sit on the edge of your seat, eyes glued to the pages, can’t stop reading, no sleeping until you know what happens kind of book.  All I can hope for is that there’s more to come with this crew, because I’m obsessed!

I’m an avid reader with a slight obsession for anything romance or thriller. If it’s romance AND thriller, I’ll likely become your next biggest fan 😊
