Matt Price

Matt Price – Editor

Emmy Award winning TV writer with over twenty years of experience. Loves funny stories about music, sports, and fascinating people.

Overview

Hello! My name is Matt, and I have over twenty years experience writing in TV and film, as well as some print journalism. I love all kinds of storytelling, especially when there's some comedy involved. Whether you're the bass player for an international rock band or a funeral director, a few well-placed funny lines can go a long way in getting readers invested in your story (especially if you're a funeral director).

For the past ten years, I've written primarily in animation, including recent stints as Supervising Producer for "Final Space" on Adult Swim and for "Close Enough" on HBOMax. I co-developed "Close Enough" with J.G. Quintel and two other producers before they sold the pitch in the room to TBS. Prior to that, I worked for The Cartoon Network on several shows, most notably "Regular Show" for which I won an Emmy Award (and was nominated for five more). I wrote on all 262 episodes of the award-winning "Regular Show," and I was promoted to head writer in the third season. I also co-wrote the story for "Regular Show: The Movie." I have worked in development at many other animation studios and international production companies, including Nickelodeon and PinkFong.

I've written on many live action shows as well, including Comedy Central’s "Root of All Evil" with Lewis Black. I have also co-developed several sitcoms with NBC and Conan O’Brien’s production company Conaco. Earlier this year, I wrote on one of his most memorable jobs: a show for Peacock starring Snoop Dogg.

In addition to TV writing, I've been published in many magazines, including ESPN, Paste and L.A. Magazine. I also used to curate a storytelling show at the UCB Theatre in Los Angeles where I would edit and help craft personal essays for authors and comedians.

I currently live in Los Angeles with my wife and daughter. I love writing (and talking) about music, sports and the L.A. donut scene, which is indeed a thing.

Matt went above and beyond with responding to my brief. The feedback he provided was steeped with insights and suggestions that can only come from solid experience, and he delivered the feedback in a professional and friendly manner. As a result, rather than feeling overwhelmed with the work I have yet to do, I feel enthusiastic and energized. Can’t thank you enough, Matt! I need more stars on...

Mark was fantastic to work with. If you know your writing is good, and I'm sure it is, but you need that last extra special something - anything - to take it the the level that you KNOW it should be, then stop everything you're doing and hire Matt right now. Talented, professional and cool... you'll read your draft after he's collaborated with you and say, "Wow I'M REALLY GOOD!!"

Matt's level of engagement was what stood out - he seems to have a genuine interest in improving what I wrote. He is professional, easy to talk to and quick with responses. He was even early with his work. I'd work with Matt again and I'm quick to recommend him.
