February has been another busy month for the YEA Program, with our series of workshops with our partners drawing to a close. First we met with Smart City Wien and learnt that as Vienna is responsible for ¾ of energy consumption in Austria and growing as a city, Smart City Wien wants to radically preserve resources via efficient means such as using clean energy transport and protecting nature. They believe everyone has a role to play in this. Smart City define “Smart” as finding new technologies to make lives/cities more efficient.
For Smart City Wien, the number 1 priority for the city of Vienna is digitalization, (even above climate change!).
Their work focuses on three dimensions:
· Quality of life
· Preservation of resources
· Using technology to improve the first two points
