Youth Education Ambassadors (YEA) is an innovative program for 15 to 18 year olds who want to learn more about global sustainability such as environment, human rights, and social equality, and about international and local organizations who tackle these issues.
The YEA program is under the patronage of the Austrian UNESCO Commission and partners with organizations such as: Teach for Austria, UNHCR, UNIDO and Smart City Wien.
Our Vision
YEA aims to foster critical thinking and engagement among high school students about global sustainability. Through the YEA program, youth are provided with knowledge and the tools to shape their vision of a sustainable future for all.
Our Values
Education empowers people. On the one hand, having access to knowledge and to learn about complex interdependencies is the first step towards identifying and understanding situations. On the other hand, education itself is also a communicative process because we never “just” learn and teach. It is an ongoing process of negotiation by members of society in which we learn about each other’s interests, needs and ambitions. If we account for both dimensions of education, together we can take adequate action and make sustainable changes.
Awareness and social commitment have become core competences, especially for young people, to self-confidently and successfully navigate in our society. Thereby, gaining knowledge about a topic is as central as effectively communicating the things one is committed to. The YEA program aims to foster mutual communication through education by promoting critical thinking among the students and offering the tools to actively shape their vision of a sustainable future.
